SYNOPSIS - According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers
and socs. A soc (short for social) has money, an attitude longer than a limousine and can
get away with just about anything. Greasers, (known for their long greasy hair and hood
appearance), always live on the outside and needs to watch their back. Ponyboy is a
greaser like his brothers and he's always been proud of it. He's even willing to
rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers -- until one terrible
night.
Prime Stage's production of this popular S.E. Hinton book takes an honest look at
Ponyboy's struggle to "stay gold" in a world that seems grey and tarnished.
A great story enjoyed for over thirty years, THE OUTSIDERS addresses timeless questions of
adolescence about identity and empathy, and the seemingly large gap between the haves and
have-nots.
